first_imgEx-Molde keeper Pettersen: The best quality of Man Utd boss Solskjaer is…by Paul Vegas10 months agoSend to a friendShare the loveFormer Molde goalkeeper Espen Bugge Pettersen says the man-management ability of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is his best quality. The Molde coach has been loaned to Manchester United as caretaker manager following the sacking of Jose Mourinho.”I think most people were surprised when Solskjaer got the job at United, but this is a great fun for Ole Gunnar. He’s going to be followed by everyone in Norwegian football,” Pettersen told VG.”Ole Gunnar is generally very good with people, also as a coach. I want to say it’s his greatest strength that he sees all the players all the time. He manages the players and the coaching in a good way, regardless of the situation, and of course he has a football professionalism.”Pettersen won two league titles with Solskjaer at Molde. And he added: “It is in the offensive game he is the best and he does not tie up his players. Ole Gunnar triggers creativity and speed. Watching from outside, he is the real opposite to Mourinho.” TagsTransfersAbout the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your saylast_img read more

first_imgAbout the authorFreddie TaylorShare the loveHave your say Liverpool fullback Robertson: I’m bored of van Dijk praise…by Freddie Taylor10 months agoSend to a friendShare the loveAndy Robertson has joked that he’s bored of talking about Liverpool teammate Virgil van Dijk. The Dutchman’s stature continues to grow with each impressive performance for the Reds. But one of his teammates is tired of hearing the noise.”I’m getting bored speaking about how good he is!” said Robertson after Friday night’s win over Wolves.”No, I’m only joking. He was fantastic.”We knew when we saw [Adama] Traore up top that he has got great pace. His pace and direction are a big threat and big Virgil did so well with him. We knew on the counter-attack they were dangerous.”I’m sure he will be disappointed he has not scored more goals but it was a clean sheet and his first Premier League goal – pretty much a perfect day for him.”He’s been brilliant [since joining Liverpool]. I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside him for the majority of time on the left-hand side of the defence. He’s just a great lad to have next to you – I’m not sure he will say the same about me!”I think we have had a good relationship, we work together. The whole back four does, whoever plays, his impact on the club has been good. I look forward to it continuing.” last_img read more

first_imgNewcastle boss Benitez under consideration at Leicesterby Paul Vegas10 months agoSend to a friendShare the loveNewcastle United boss Rafa Benitez is under consideration at Leicester City. The Mirror says Claude Puel bought himself time at the King Power Stadium with successive surprise wins over high-flying Chelsea and champions Manchester City. But their shortcomings were exposed on Saturday by Cardiff City, who recorded their first away win all season. The club’s Thai owner, Top Srivaddhanaprabha, is known to be an admirer of Rafa Benitez — whose hopes of a takeover at current club Newcastle that could inject fresh January transfer funds are fading. It means Puel is back on a tightrope at Leicester, where he has never fully won over fans despite leading the club to ninth last term.Questions about his man-management, motivational skills and tactics persist — and he appears to have a fractured relationship with star striker Jamie Vardy. Jimbo Fisher Announces Sean Maguire As Starting Quarterback vs. Chattanooga

first_imgSean Maguire on the field during a FSU home game.Photo/Dustin tackett Photo/Dustin tackettPhoto/Dustin TackettThe Everett Golson era at Florida State may very well be over. Jimbo Fisher made the switch to Sean Maguire during FSU’s 31-17 win over N.C. State on Saturday, a move that may well be permanent going forward. Fisher told the media that Maguire will start this weekend’s game against Chattanooga.“(Maguire) will start this week,” Fisher said. “Yes he will.”Maguire was 18-for-28 through the air, for 231 yards and two touchdowns, after replacing Golson, who threw two early interceptions. Fisher says that Maguire’s play gave the team a much-needed lift.“The energy grew. He was being vocal, being a leader,” Fisher said. “And then all of our guys got that bounce and got some urgency and he was the spark. He made a couple really nice plays under pressure. The guys appreciated that.”After facing the Mocs on Saturday, FSU takes on rival Florida, which is still in contention for a College Football Playoff berth at 9-1, with the SEC East clinched. A 10 win season would be a pretty strong result for a Seminoles team that has dealt with uncertainty at quarterback through much of the season.[Dr. Saturday]last_img read more

And, in the minds of many of these teams’ fan bases, their team will still be undefeated once September, October and November come to an end.  Power 5Predicting every team’s first loss. They are wrong, though. Pretty much every college football team will suffer at least one loss during the 2016 season. Only one Power 5 team went undefeated through the conference championship games last season, Clemson. And the Tigers, of course, didn’t end their campaign unblemished, falling to Alabama in the College Football Playoff title game. So a loss is coming, at some point, for all of your teams. We’re going to predict when that first loss is coming for every Power 5 team (and Notre Dame). Here are our predictions. Start With The ACC >>>Pages: Page 1 Page 2 Page 3 Page 4 Page 5 Page 6last_img read more

Kovac confirms Bayern interest in Chelsea’s Hudson-Odoi

first_imgBayern Munich coach Niko Kovac has confirmed that his club are following the progress of Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi, while refusing to state whether a transfer bid had been filed.Hudson-Odoi, 18, is considered one of the most talented youngsters currently on the books at Stamford Bridge. An Under-17 World Cup winner with England in 2017, he has found first-team football hard to come by with the Blues, making just three Premier League appearances to date while playing a bigger part in his club’s Europa League campaign. Article continues below Editors’ Picks ‘There is no creativity’ – Can Solskjaer get Man Utd scoring freely again? ‘Everyone legged it on to the pitch!’ – How Foden went from Man City superfan to future superstar Emery out of jail – for now – as brilliant Pepe papers over Arsenal’s cracks What is Manchester United’s ownership situation and how would Kevin Glazer’s sale of shares affect the club? Goal understands that Bayern have now made a £30 million ($37.5m) offer for the teenager’s services, with Chelsea also admitting interest from the Bundesliga giants. And Kovac admitted that Hudson-Odoi was in the club’s sights.”[Hudson-Odoi] is from the same year as [Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon] Sancho, which was very succesful,” the Bayern coach explained to reporters on Saturday.”It is completely normal that we are aware of and are following the player. For if and when something will happen you will have to ask Brazzo (Bayern’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic).”Sancho left Manchester City for Dortmund in 2017 aged just 17, and now commands a regular place in the BVB side who lead the Bundesliga after a storming start to the season.Hudson-Odoi’s World Cup winning England team-mate alleged lack of playing time at the Etihad Stadium was crucial in his decision to leave his home nation, a situation the Chelsea forward is also suffering. But Blues coach Gianfranco Zola hopes he will dismiss Bayern interest and stay put.“We have had a contract with him for a while and we will see what the player wants,” the Italian had explained on Friday.“He has not played what he wanted. I have told him it is not a waste of time, because you are pushed to do more and I hope he uses this time in a wise way. He will be a very good thing in football.“I understand he has requests but I believe that he has a bright future.“For 18 years old, he has a lot of potential. You have to understand the journey is not finished, he has to have a good attitude. It is not important he plays straight away, it is about developing. He has to keep an open mind to improve.“I believe we can help him, develop him and I believe he has a future in this club.”last_img read more
